The 21st Century Cures Act – The next imaging reimbursement hurdle
The era of computed radiography (CR) and analog film imaging is now coming to its final close. Attendees of this session will learn about the impact beginning in 2017 of the “21st Century Cures Act” and its limitations that will be imposed relevant to patient imaged billing reimbursements when CR or analog film imaging is used as the diagnostic read source. With approximately 9,000 CR units still actively deployed today in diagnostic imaging clinics in the U.S., the impact in reduced allowable patient billing reimbursement will be significantly felt by those health care providers who have not transitioned to new technologies such as direct radiography which align with this mandated health care reimbursement law. This session will delve into the challenges many will incur as they determine how to best navigate toward a solution to overcome this next patient billing reimbursement hurdle.
